Dr. Bruce N. Ursin is a native of Wisconsin. His grandfather, who was a Lutheran minister, lifted him up when he was born and said, “This one will be a minister.” Pastor Bruce has been a pastor in the Iowa Conference since 1980. He has served churches in Webster City and Kamirar, Gowrie and Callender, Sheldon, Cedar Falls, and, presently, Muscatine Wesley. Pastor Bruce and his wife Susan have been married for 33 years. They have two children, Christina and David.
Pastor Bruce enjoys sports, reading, and working out.
Ric Smith - Music Director
Ric Smith joined the staff of Wesley United Methodist Church in Muscatine in July of 1998 as Music Director. He directs the Chancel and Handbell Choirs of the church and is actively involved, with the pastor, in worship planning and leadership. Ric is the founding director of the Muscatine Children’s and Youth Choirs, a misistry of Wesley Church involving 60 singers in grades K-12.
Ric is married to Cynthia who is also significantly involved in music ministry at Wesley and throughout the Muscatine community. Ric and Cynthia are both Benedictine Oblates, associated with the Monastery of St. Mary, Rock Island. They have two grown daughters, Hannah and Emma. Ric enjoys bicycling, gardening, cooking and reading.
