Dr. Bruce N. Ursin is a native of Wisconsin. His grandfather, who was a Lutheran minister, lifted him up when he was born and said, “This one will be a minister.” Pastor Bruce has been a pastor in the Iowa Conference since 1980. He has served churches in Webster City and Kamirar, Gowrie and Callender, Sheldon, Cedar Falls, and, presently, Muscatine Wesley. Pastor Bruce and his wife Susan have been married for 33 years. They have two children, Christina and David.
Pastor Bruce enjoys sports, reading, and working out.
Dr. Ric Smith - Music Director
Richard A. Smith has directed church and community choral programs in Iowa, Alabama, and Florida for over 30 years. He has led choral and church music workshops throughout the United States and has had articles on church music and hymnody published in such journals as The Choral Journal, The Chorister, The Hymn and Theology Today.
Dr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music History from Birmingham- Southern College, the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami, and a Doctor of Sacred Music degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
Richard Smith joined the staff of Wesley United Methodist Church in Muscatine in July of 1998 as Music Director. He directs the Chancel and Handbell Choirs of the church and is actively involved, with the pastors, in worship planning and leadership. Mr. Smith is the founding director of the Muscatine Children’s and Youth Choirs, involving 75 singers in grades K-12.
Brooke Oehme - Youth Director
Brooke has a B.A in Christian Education and Religion, and an M.A. in Theology. She has a background in Theater, Art, Film and Storytelling. This is her first full-time Youth Ministry position, although she has interned in Children’s Ministry programs in multiple churches. She currently teaches World Religions & Philosophy at MCC.
Ray Oehme - Worship Leader Ray is the Senior Pastor at Vineyard Christian Fellowship. He also leads our Celebration Service every Sunday at 9:15 am.
